Guemes Island Cleanup Day

Island Cleanup Day
Saturday, April 20, 2019    12 Noon to 2:30 p.m.

Groundfloor Guemes will host this year’s Spring Cleanup Day on Saturday, April 20th.   Our winter storms have brought interesting but unwanted items to the beach wrack lines. Litter can be spotted along our beautiful roadsides.  Your help is needed in keeping our island in tip-top shape!

You can participate in this island-caring event in one of two ways.

•     Meet at the School House Park at the corner of Edens Road and Guemes Island Road beginning at noon on April 20th.  Volunteers can then select from a list of designated beaches and roadways.  Trash collection bags will be distributed.  Long-handled tongs provided by Skagit Public Works can be signed out.   It is suggested that you bring work gloves to wear and water to drink.

•    You may choose instead to clean your own beach or neighborhood roadway.  If you need trash bags or tongs, they will be available at the School House Park starting at noon.  You may also use your own trash bags.

Bring collected trash and borrowed tongs to the park by 2:30 p.m.  Truck support will be available that day as needed to assist in getting the filled trash bags back to the park.  For assistance, call (360) 826-2714.  The trash will be taken away from the island by Skagit Public Works.

Further information can be requested by contacting Holly Green at (360) 610-3829 or Edie Clark at (360) 299-3230.

Join your island neighbors Earthday Weekend on April 20th for a very rewarding couple of hours.  The island with thank you!
